Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering known as GATE in short is very well known examination for young engineering graduates who wants to pursue higher education like Post Graduation in field of Engineering/Technology or Architecture. GATE is conducted nationally through Indian Institute of Technology. GATE 2015 is being conducted by Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur. The basic idea of GATE is the test comprehensive knowledge of undergraduate candidates in various fields or branches of engineering or technology. After examination of GATE, score is being released by respective IITs on the basis of this score candidates are allowed to take admission in Indian Institute of Technology’s and National Institute of Technologies (NITs) located across in all the state capital cities of India. GATE examination is conducted in total twenty two (22) subjects who cover various disciplines like Engineering, Technology, Architecture & Applied science.  Apart from IITs and NITs, Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT), Indian Institute of Science (IISc) and Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT).

GATE examination marks validity has been increased from 2 year to 3 years. So now GATE score card validity has been increased from 2 years to 3 years. Candidates will get one more year to apply for their choice of job opportunity as their GATE score card will be valid for three years from the date of passing GATE examination.

There are many Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) who accept GATE Score card for the purpose of recruitment. To name few of top PSUs of country are as follows: Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL), Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL), Bharat Heavy Electrical Limited (BHEL), Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC), Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) & Oil & Natural Gas Commission.  Majority of Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) are hiring candidates who have valid GATE score cards in organization as Management trainees, Executive trainee, Engineering trainee & Assistant Manager for various different level of posts. Few Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) are being owned either by Central Government or State Government. A separate notification for recruitment is released by respective IITs from time to time. Some PSUs take written examination even after having good GATE score card while some of PSUs directly calls candidates for personal interview and group discussion.
